Historical Jasper and Canada

Jasper National Park, originally named "Jasper Forest Park", was formed in 1907. Human use of the land spans much longer than that, from natives to 1800s fur traders. Culled from the NY Public Library, Archives Canada and my own collections, these Jasper pictures show what was going on inside the area of the current park in times past. Knowing the history of Jasper helps visitors to better appreciate the park. Another place to learn more is at the Jasper-Yellowhead Museum in Jasper.
